Giving Muhammad (PBUH) his Name

Aamina sent someone to tell Muhammad’s grandfather about the birth of Muhammad (PBUH).

He looked at the sky and thanked Allah the Almighty, and then he took Muhammad to the Ka’ba thanking Allah and asking him to bless the child.

After seven days, Abdul Muttalib circumcised him, and invited people for a big meal and gave  him the name “Muhammad”.

Quraish asked Abdul Muttalib why he has not given his grandson a common name known in his tribe.  He said, “Because I want Allah to praise him in the heavens and people to praise him in the earth”.
