from red to green, this is our dream – featuring ‘the last sermon of the prophet (peace be upon him)

bismillah hi rahmanni’raheem,

assalamualaykum wa’rahmatullahi wa’barakatuhu my noble brothers and sisters.

have you ever wondered what this world would be like if it had no laws? (surely, our thoughts may differ in this issue – or perhaps not!)
it could be that we all say, “without rules and regulations, this macrocosm (universe) would be disorganised!”

but alhamdulillah, we have some sort of ordinance in our countries to follow right?
even if it were different, without denying, we still have a few things in common e.g. at a traffic light, we must stop when the light is red and go ahead when its green!

well what if i asked, “why is it that this system seems to be in place? why doesn’t anybody try to deform its structure? or in other words, why stop when the light is red and go when its green? why not the opposite? you say: “what kind of a question is this?” i say: “every question has a wisdom behind it. it is up to us to grasp its core, or simply, just let it go!”
you may answer: “well it’s not about changing the law, it’s about abiding by its principle so that our society can mature into an excellent manner and environment.”
but i answer: “yes, it’s not about changing the law! however, if we can endeavour to establish ‘these’ laws in our lives, then how about practicing the principle of the way of life?”

how interesting? and yes it’s true! when we are asked about the way of life, why is it that our views diverge? apparantly, we have many different answers, when in reality, there should be only one!

you may now ask: “exactly what is the way of life then?”
i say: “patience is a virtue, read on…..........”

talk about principles and its criterion, where are we to find such a sense of honour?

undoubtedly, in the integrity of our beloved prophet alayhis sallatu wassalam, lies the key to this solitary path……….islam....….! (subhan’allah)

certainly, the precious gems that fell from his lips (peace be upon him), are to be treasured! not in our trinket, but treasured in our hearts and implemented in our lives. these gems truly serve as his matchless teachings (peace be upon him). they illustrate his example and overall embody his satisfying sunnah (peace be upon him), which proves, that ‘islam’ indeed is the perfect way of life!

so arrange your seat, adjust your seatbelt; buckle up! you are about to embark upon a journey filled with wisdom. prepare yourselves to read ‘the last sermon of the prophet (peace be upon him) and witness the ideal most precise way of life through his teachings (peace be upon him).

you are now at the red light, (remember the rule: stop, think and reflect!)

'the prophet muhammad’s (peace be upon him) last sermon.’
(this sermon was delivered on the nineth day of dhul hijjah 10 a.h. in the ‘uranah of mount arafat).

after praising and thanking allah, the prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“o people, lend me an attentive ear, for i know not whether, after this year, i shall ever be amongst you again. therefore listen to what i am saying to you very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today.

o people, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every muslim as a sacred trust. return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest), therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. your capital, however is, yours to keep.
you will neither inflict nor suffer inequity. allah has jugded that there shall be no interest and that the interest due to abbas ibn’abd’al muttalib shall henceforth be waived…

beware of shaytaan, for the safety of your religion. he has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

o people, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. remember that you have taken them as your wives only under allah’s trust and with his permission. if they abide by your rights, then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. and it is your right that they do not make friends with anyone of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.

o people, listen to me in earnest, worship allah, say your 5 daily prayers (salah), fast during the month of ramadan, and give your wealth in zakat, perfom hajj if you can afford to.

all mankind is from adam and eve, an arab has no superiority over a non-arab, nor does a non-arab has superiority over an arab. also a white has no superiority over black, nor does black has any superiority over white, except by piety and good action. learn that every muslim is a brother to every muslim and that muslim constitude one brotherhood.
nothing shall be legitimate to a muslim which belongs to a fellow muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. do not therefore, do injustice to yourself.

remember one day you will appear before allah and answer for your deeds, so beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after i am gone.

o people, no prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. reason well, therefore, o people, and understand the words which i convey to you. i leave behind me two things the qur’an and my example, the sunnah and if you follow these you will never go astray.

all those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. be my witness o allah, that i have conveyed your message to your people.”

subhan’allah……….brothers and sisters in islam, it may be that we have different aims, different ambitions in life; but one thing is for sure, paradise should be our final goal (if allah permits) and we should strive to reach this blissful destination…by abiding by the law which allah has ordained!

truly, the world is in much need of islam. not only will it reform a part of our society, but insha'allah, it'll transform the whole world.........

allah reminds us in the qu’ran: “and i (allah) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship me (alone).” surah adh-dhariyat verse 56 (51:56)

i see you have now reached the amber light – have you grasped the gist of this stage?

this is the chosen path of allah the all-mighty, the only vision filled with light; so remove the blemish from your heart and *‘wear the glasses of islam so you can see things the way allah and his messenger (peace be upon him) want you to see, through the glorious qu’ran and the perfect sunnah of our beloved prophet alahis sallatu wassalam.'

and so it is, islam, the most honourable, virtuous and principled way of life!

the light has now turned green, you are free to go………………………………………………………........................... .................
