Increase Supplications Before the Tasleem in Salaah (Prayers)

1- Narrated 'Aisha (ra), the wife of the Apostle of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he used to supplicate during the prayer saying: “O Allah, I seek refuge in thee from the punishment of the grave; I seek refuge in thee from the trial of the antichrist; I seek refuge in thee from the trial of life and the trial of death; o Allah, I seek refuge in thee from sin and debt.” Someone said to him: how often you seek refuge from debt! He replied: “When a man is in debt, he talks and tells lies, makes promises and breaks them.”1

2- Narrated Shaqiq Bin Salama: Abdullah said, "Whenever we prayed behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) we used to say (in sitting) 'Peace be on Allah from his servants, peace be on so and so.

Once Allah's Apostle looked back at us and said, do not say 'Peace on Allah for Allah himself is as-Salam (peace), and if anyone of you prays then he should say:

'at-tahiyatu lil-lahi wassalawatu wat-taiyibatu. As-salamu 'alaika aiyuha-n-nabiyu wa rahmatu-l-lahi wa barakatuhu. As-salam alaina wa ala ibadil-lah is-salihin.' (all the compliments, prayers and good things are due to Allah, peace be on you, o prophet and Allah's mercy and blessings be on you. Peace be on us and on the true pious slaves of Allah). If you say that, it will be for all the slaves in the heaven and the earth.

Ash-hadu an la-ilaha illa-l-lahu wa ash-hadu anna muhammadan 'abduhu wa rasuluhu. (I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and I also testify that Muhammad is his slave and His Apostle). Then he can choose the duaa' (supplication) that he likes the most and he can recite it."2

3- Narrated Abu Hurirah (ra) that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “When anyone of you ends the last Tashahud, he should seek refuge with Allah from four: Hellfire’s torture, Grave’s torture, affliction of life and death and affliction of al-Maseih ad-Dajjal (i.e. The antichrist).”3 [reported by Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah and declared authentic by al-Albani].

4- Ibn Umar (ra) reported that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sat for the Tashahud he placed his right hand on his right knee, and he raised his right finger, which is next to the right thumb, making supplication in this way and his left hand on his left knee while stretching it on the left knee.”4

5- Ali Ibn Abi Talib (ra) reported that when the Prophet (pbuh) prayed, the last thing he would say between the Tashahud and the Tasleem was, “O Allah, forgive my past and later sins, what was in private and what was in public, and what I have been extravagant in. You are more knowledgeable of it than me. You are the Expediter and the Delayer. There is no God except You.”5

6 – Abdullah Ibn Amr narrated, that Abu Bakr said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): “Teach me a supplication that I would say in my prayers.” He told him, “Say, O Allah, I have wronged my soul a great wrong and no one forgives sins except you, so forgive me with such forgiveness that only comes from you and have mercy on me. Verily, you are the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.”6 (Reported by al-Bukhari and Muslim.)
