Abu Maalik Al-Ashja’i (a Follower; belonging to the generation succeeding the Companions) reported that his father said
“If a man became Muslim, the Prophet of Allah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, would teach him the prayer, then he would order him to supplicate with these four words: O Allah forgive me, have mercy upon me, guide me, protect me from harm, and provide for me.
