jewish rabbis has made imperative for jewish men to double their reproduction. at the same time, they did not hide their clear preference for the male child: "it is good for those who have boys and bad for those who have girls," "at the birth of a male child happiness spread while sadness dominate at the birth of a female", and "peace comes to the world when a boy comes … but nothing comes when it is a girl."^[21]
