The Prophet of Allah, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, was eager to guide his uncle Abu Taalib:
The Prophet of Allah, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, also called his cousin 'Ali to Islam when he was young, and he responded and believed in him and was the first child to become Muslim. At-Tirmithi (a scholar) said: "Some of the people of knowledge said that the first man to become Muslim was Abu Bakr, and 'Ali became Muslim when he was only eight years old, and Khadeejah was the first woman to become Muslim."
